Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging

Dr Vlasic has provided quality ultrasound imaging services to the doctors and patients of the Whitsunday Shire and surrounding areas including Bowen and Collinsville for over 20 years & he takes great pride in providing patients with a caring, professional & clinically outstanding service.

We have private rooms located at the Proserpine Hospital providing imaging services to General Practitioners and public hospital departments in a rural community.

Mario completed a Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery in 1979. He practiced as a General Practitioner in the Whitsundays until 1999, (including providing an ultrasound service from 1988). He founded Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging providing a full-time ultrasound service in 2000.



Mario’s commitment to excellence in ultrasound is backed by his dedication to continuing education, research and training. In 2004 he gained a masters degree in ultrasound and successfully completed a postgraduate diploma in peri-operative and critical care echocardiography in 2009.

Our practice is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of our referring medical practitioners and patients.

As a patient you will receive individual attention and will be treated with respect, dignity and professional care. You will be offered the earliest available appointment and you and your referring doctor will be provided with the answers you need as quickly as possible.

As a referring medical practitioner you can be assured that we will respond rapidly to your needs with fast turnaround of reports and priority service for your urgent patients. We have the latest imaging technology optimising diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Diagnostic Ultrasound Imaging is fully accredited under the Department of Health and Ageing Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation Scheme (DIAS) – 2nd Edition Standard. Accreditation is awarded on the basis of demonstrable, effective and comprehensive governance structures which ensure the delivery of safe, quality diagnostic imaging services for patients.

Dr Vlasic holds a certificate of competence in NT measurements with the Fetal Medicine Foundation and is on the list of NT Specialists who have also provided satisfactory results for audit.
